Overview

Antojitos Dona Fela stands out as a true gem in the heart of Jackson Heights, NY, offering an authentic Peruvian street food experience. Nestled at the bustling intersection of 90th Street and Roosevelt Avenue, this vibrant spot is a go-to for locals and visitors craving genuine flavors from Peru’s rich culinary tradition.

The menu highlights the essence of Peru’s diverse regional cuisine with dishes like ceviche, a refreshing and tangy seafood classic, and papa rellena, a comforting fried potato stuffed with savory fillings. Their picarones—a sweet, crunchy treat made from fried dough and drizzled with syrup—evoke memories of street markets and fairs, resonating deeply with patrons who cherish nostalgic tastes from Parque Kennedy or other Peruvian plazas.

Arroz con leche and mazamorra morada provide a sweet end to the meal, balancing the savory notes that dominate the menu. Traditional offerings like tamalito and the sandwich de chicharron further showcase the kitchen’s dedication to variety and authenticity. The flavors recall the bustling street vendors of Lima with every bite, emphasizing freshness and balanced seasoning.

Customer reviews paint a picture of consistent quality with some minor hiccups. The chaufa, a Peruvian stir-fried rice dish, receives praise for its genuine flavor akin to beloved Peruvian street stands, signaling a faithful homage to home cooking. While one guest noted a slightly salty pollo broster, the overall portion sizes and flavor justify the visit. The welcoming staff and lively environment reflect the neighborhood’s diversity and energy, making it both a casual lunch spot and a destination for cultural connection.

Set under the train tracks and surrounded by an array of small businesses, the space is humble but buzzing with warmth and activity. It caters to a mix of curious food lovers, longtime fans of Peruvian cuisine, and those seeking a taste of traditional street food without leaving New York. Open daily from late morning through the evening, Antojitos Dona Fela draws a steady crowd, reaffirming its role as a neighborhood staple.

For anyone interested in exploring authentic Peruvian flavors that transport you to the lively streets of Lima, this spot is well worth a visit. Whether craving a crunchy picaron or a hearty chicken sandwich, Antojitos Dona Fela delivers an approachable and heartfelt culinary experience that celebrates Peruvian food culture in a vibrant urban setting.

The chaufa is on point. Taste like the one from a peruvian stand 100% Dame goes for the creams. I order mostrito today. Everything was good but the pollo broster was salty. I will assume it was just a bad batter day I will try it again next time and see if the salty chicken is fine better but overall the place and the rations are well worth the money. Only wished my chicken wasn't salty cause I was hungry

I ain't gon lie I ain't bought from here due to the fact that it's under the train & in a busy area, but the food always smells (and looks) SCRUMPTIOUS. The prices aren't high, & the people are nice, & considering I always see customers, It oughta be good eats. Open every day from 11am to 9pm i think. It's a whole lotta people that sell good & services around this place too.

In search of authentic mexican tamales, I ended up driving 45 minutes from home. It was worth it. The chicken tamales and rajas had great flavor. As usual, like almost all tamales, the ratio of meat to masa is off. But I'm starting to think that that's just the way tamales are made, more masa (dough) than whatever filling you choose.
